Position Description
?
The Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) is responsible for assisting the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with creating, communicating, executing, and sustaining the company?s strategic plan aligned with the business and international goals for growth. The role is responsible to develop and execute the overall strategic initiatives as well as advise business leaders as a key partner for critical decision support.

The role reports directly to the CEO and is a member of the Executive Leadership Team.
?
The three most critical functions of the CSO are to 1) clarify company strategy for business leaders and associates, 2) drive immediate change as necessary and 3) drive decision making to support organizational change. The CSO is also responsible to ensure the adoption of the broader strategic goals and initiatives throughout the enterprise.

Summary of Key?Responsibilities:
?
Act as key advisor to CEO on critical changes in the competitive landscape, global marketplace and external business environment
?
Establish and execute the Annual Strategic Planning Cycle. Responsible for managing the strategy implementation process for key strategic actions. Ensure strategic actions are completed at corporate and functional levels to achieve desired results
?
Engage external business and industry experts to learn and influence business strategies, constantly remaining alert and forward-thinking about opportunities and risks in the marketplace
?
Lead the development and implementation of world class common practices and strategic frameworks across all associated areas of responsibility
?
Demonstrate a broad understanding of corporate functions outside area of expertise and ability to work collaboratively with business leaders and staff
?
Possess strong financial management operating experience and knowledge of business acumen to include budget and capital management
?
Clarify the company?s strategy for every business unit and function, ensuring that all employees understand the details of the strategic plan and how their work connects to corporate goals
?
Ensure lower level strategies within the organization align with and are achieving corporate goals

Candidate Profile
?
Work Experience & Abilities Required:
?
The ideal candidate is a seasoned executive with a strong strategy orientation who has previously held several business and operational roles in a global manufacturing environment. This includes a current or most recent role based in China in a related or technology based industry. Work experience should include success in a period of growth and transition. Additionally, early career experience in a top tier strategy consulting firm is strongly preferred.

Ability to apply a variety of strategic frameworks to analyze problems and to guide and develop solutions
?
Ability to translate and communicate complex topics in a variety of forums, tailoring communications to effectively fit and influence the targeted audience; strong executive presence, presentation and communication skills
?
Ability to identify major growth opportunities and develop business plans for realizing these opportunities, potentially through alliance or acquisition. The role is also responsible for leading the entire range of product work from problem definition to analysis, recommendation and the development of implementation plans.
?
Ability to identify and lead all merger and acquisition activities to support the global growth and expansion strategy for the business.
?

The ideal candidate is thoughtful and calm in high stress situations, inspiring a similar culture among colleagues and subordinates. As a growing company in an expanding industry, the CSO should be comfortable to lead and set a course when there is no map and much ambiguity.

Education:

Primary formal education requirements include an undergraduate degree in engineering, chemistry or materials science and a master?s degree in business from a recognized institution. Informal education should include experience in multi-cultural and multi-national environments.

Language Abilities:

Fluent in both spoken and written English & Mandarin Chinese.
