University of Houston?s President Dr. Renu Khator has a new honor under belt. The Greater Houston Partnership and Kiwanis Club of Houston have named Dr. Khator as the International Business Executive of the Year. Dr. Khator was honored at the a luncheon that readily recognizes those who have excelled in business and international relations and is a global leader.?? The award recipient has had to help Houston on the international business front. Both things that Dr. Khator has done with her position at the University of Houston. In her acceptance speech she said, ?There were two things that drove me to Houston; I saw the talent pool and the international flavor of this place. I believed that the University of Houston should be in a different place and that why I choose UH. ?This was not the first university presidency that was offered to me, however, it was the right one. Other supporting organizations are the Mayor of Houston, Harris County Judge, Port of Houston, and the U.S. Department of Commerce. Dr. Khator took charge as the Chancellor of the University of Houston System and president of the University of Houston in 2008. She is currently overseeing a four-university organization that serves 67,000 students, has an annual budget that exceeds $1.5 billion, and generates a $3.5 billion-plus impact on the Greater Houston area?s economy each year.
